Spacepak FAQ
Why is my Spacepak system blowing weak air?
Spacepak is a high-velocity system — airflow should be strong at the vents. Weak airflow almost always indicates a clogged filter or restricted return air duct. Check your filters first. High-velocity systems pull a large volume of air through smaller filters, so they load up faster than traditional systems.
Why is my Spacepak system noisy?
These systems are designed to be quiet. A ‘whooshing’ noise at vents often means the system is unbalanced or the sound attenuators (special tubing near the end of each run) are missing or damaged. Rattling usually indicates a loose blower wheel. Both are service items we can address.
Does my Spacepak heat pump work in cold San Francisco winters?
Yes — the Solstice Inverter heat pumps are rated down to -22°F for some models, so SF winters are well within operating range. Efficiency drops as outdoor temperature falls, but SF rarely sees temperatures that would challenge even a standard heat pump.
How often should I change Spacepak filters?
More often than you’d think. High-velocity systems move a large volume of air, so filters load up quickly. We recommend checking filters monthly and replacing at least every 3 months. Neglecting filters strains the high-pressure blower and reduces system efficiency significantly.
