NTI FAQ

What does NTI Error Code ‘Loc’ mean?

‘Loc’ stands for Lockout, followed by a number (e.g., Loc 1). The boiler has shut down for safety. Loc 1 is usually an ignition failure. You can try one reset, but if it returns, a technician needs to check the gas supply and ignition system — repeated resets can mask a dangerous underlying issue.

What is NTI Error Code ‘Err’?

‘Err’ indicates a blocking error, often sensor-related. For example, Err 6 might indicate a supply sensor problem. Unlike a Lockout, the boiler may restart automatically once the condition clears. If it keeps returning, the sensor likely needs replacement.

Why is my NTI boiler making a gurgling sound?

Gurgling almost always means air trapped in the system or heat exchanger. It can lead to overheating and Lockout errors. The system needs to be properly bled or purged of air. We include system purging in our annual maintenance visits.

How do I check the pressure on my NTI boiler?

Look for the pressure gauge on the piping near the boiler or on the display. It should read between 12 and 20 PSI when cold. Below 10 PSI means the system needs water added. Above 25 PSI suggests a failed expansion tank — a technician should inspect it promptly.
